Electric vehicle FAQs

Are electric vehicles powerful?

Yes, electric motors offer high performance that is comparable to, and often superior to, that of equivalent internal combustion engines.

An engine's power depends on its rotational speed and torque. In an electric car, it is measured in kilowatts (kW), while horsepower (hp) is the unit of measurement used for the engines in combustion-powered cars.

One of the major advantages of an electric motor is that it delivers its maximum torque immediately, right from the moment it starts up. The result: sharp acceleration, instant power delivery, and a smooth, responsive driving experience, which is particularly appreciated in everyday use. In practice, electric motors can therefore be just as powerful, or even more powerful, than petrol or diesel engines, offering a more dynamic driving experience.

Just as with combustion-powered vehicles, not all electric vehicles are the same: power and performance vary depending on the model, engine size, and battery capacity. There are electric vehicles suitable for both city driving and more demanding uses.
