Reanult Megane RS Trophy-R Esteban Ocon

New Renault F1® Team Driver Esteban Ocon was welcomed to the team ahead of the 2020 Formula 1 World Championship season with an all-new Megane R.S. Trophy-R in a ceremony at L’Atelier Renault on Paris’s Champs-Elysées Paris in December.

The Frenchman partners Australian Daniel Ricciardo in black and yellow in 2020, with the pair aiming to continue the Renault F1 Team’s progress in its fifth season since returning to Formula 1 in 2016. And the award of his welcome top-of-the-range Trophy-R was a direct request from Esteban himself. He was originally to have been awarded an R.S. Trophy but asked personally for the record-breaking upgrade.

The 23-year-old talent from Normandy is no stranger to the world of Renault and Enstone – the F1 Team’s chassis base – having been Renault’s Reserve Driver in 2016 and, previously, a member of Lotus F1 Team’s junior programme.

Despite his young age, Esteban has already accumulated a wealth of Formula 1 experience having competed in 50 Grands Prix to date. He made his Formula 1 debut for Manor Racing in 2016, before joining the Sahara Force India in 2017, where he scored a superb 87 points to finish an impressive eighth in the Drivers’ Championship in his first full season. A year later, Esteban finished twelfth after picking up 49 points.

Esteban received his Megane R.S. Trophy-R in a ceremony at Renault’s Flagship Dealer, L’Atelier Renault, on the Champs-Elysées on 12 December 2019. The Megane R.S. Trophy-R, Renault’s hottest-ever hatch has already broken a number of lap records since it was unveiled early in 2019, smashing previous times at Germany’s Nürburgring, Belgium’s Spa-Francorchamps, Japan’s Suzuka and Australia’s The Bend.
