Renault’s award-winning cars leading the way in 2026

Steve Fowler - 23/04/2026

Renault’s recent run of success at major car awards tells a clear story: this is a brand that’s not only embracing change but shaping it. Across the entire range – electric cars, family SUVs and commercial vehicles – Renault is consistently being recognised by automotive experts for delivering the kind of design, innovation and usability that matter most to modern drivers.

Awards aren’t just about trophies on a shelf. They’re a reflection of how well a car performs in the real world – how it drives, how efficient it is, how easy it is to live with day to day – and that’s exactly where Renault’s latest models are making their mark.

Which Renault vehicles have won major awards recently?

Renault 5 E-Tech electric

Renault 5 E-Tech electric is the standout figure on sheer volume of awards, with 58 wins – and that’s just so far! It was named  European Car of the Year 2025, while on the UK side alone, Renault 5 has won such honours as What Car? Car of the Year, Top Gear Car of the Year, News UK Motors Awards Electric Car of the Year and Business Car Car of the Year. It’s a remarkable haul, and underlines just how strongly Renault 5’s character, affordability and electric usability have landed with the UK’s automotive experts.

Renault Scenic E-Tech electric

Renault Scenic E-Tech electric is another huge success story, with 7 awards in total. It preceded the Renault 5 by being named European Car of the Year 2024, with a major trophy coming from Parkers while it was named AutoTrader's Best Car for Long Distances 2025. That mix of titles tells you a lot: Scenic is being recognised not just as a good EV, but as an excellent family car full stop.

Renault 4 E-Tech electric

Renault 4 E-Tech electric already has 15 major UK awards under its belt including What Car? Electric Car of the Year, Top Gear’s Electric Car of the Year, Auto Express Small SUV of the Year and News UK Motor Awards  2025 Small SUV/Crossover of the Year. It is a strong early return and shows that Renault 4’s blend of clever packaging, crossover appeal and compact-EV usefulness is hitting exactly the right note.

Megane E-Tech electric and Clio

Renault Megane E-Tech electric has been similarly successful with two awards in total, while Renault Clio has another handful of trophies including What Car? Best Small Car to Drive and Business Car Awards Best Small Car.

More awards

Renault’s van range has impressed expert judges, too - Master has an impressive 20 awards. While Renault Rafale’s trophy haul shows Renault’s current momentum is across the whole line-up.

What helped these Renault cars win awards?

Across all these award-winning vehicles, there’s a clear pattern in what judges are recognising.

Design is a major factor. Cars like Renault 5 and Scenic E-Tech stand out immediately, but their appeal goes way beyond styling. Every design decision serves a purpose, whether that’s improving space, visibility or ease of use – it’s all very well a car looking good, but they have a job to do, too. That’s exactly what Renault’s award winners do.

Technology also plays a crucial role. Renault’s latest cars integrate advanced infotainment and driver assistance systems in a way that feels intuitive rather than overwhelming – that’s hugely important for buyers. That usability is particularly important as more drivers transition to high-tech electric vehicles.

Efficiency and real-world performance are equally vital. Awards such as those from What Car? and Top Gear consistently highlight cars that deliver strong range, effective charging and low running costs in everyday conditions, rather than simply impressive headline figures.

This all reflects Renault’s wider philosophy: innovation isn’t there for its own sake – it’s there to make driving easier, more efficient and more enjoyable.

How do these award-winning cars benefit drivers in real life?

The answer is quite straightforward – as an expert judge, I’ve always started any assessment with an understanding of what buyers really want from any particular model.

So, Scenic’s awards show how well it works as a family EV. Renault 5 and Renault 4 bring compact electric driving that still feels stylish and useful. Megane offers a well-rounded electric package for family use, while Clio continues to prove just how appealing a smart, efficient small car can be to a wide range of buyers. Rafale adds a more upmarket hybrid flavour, and Renault’s vans show that business users are getting the same attention to detail as private buyers. It is not just about showroom appeal; it’s about vehicles that make daily life easier.

For owners, the advantages of these award-winning qualities are clear from the moment you get behind the wheel.

What do these awards say about Renault’s leadership in design and technology?

It seems that Renault is on a roll. Awards should never be taken for granted, but the fact is that Renault is taking home a record-breaking number of trophies for the brand right now. This underlines the brand’s position as a leader in several key areas.

What has impressed me is that the awards show a brand with real consistency, with the entire Renault range of family cars, compact EVs, small cars, hybrids and vans. That points to a clear philosophy that’s set out when these cars were designed: innovation should improve real-world driving, not complicate it.

Value is always key, too, with expert judges taking into account everything from purchase price to running costs – and the offers available across the range play an important role in pushing the Renault range ahead of rivals to come out as winners in so many awards.
