How do you drive a hybrid car?

A hybrid vehicle drives like a combustion-powered vehicle equipped with automatic transmission. Onboard systems are designed to manage drive modes, gear shifts, and energy management, allowing you to enjoy the ride with peace of mind.

Here are a few tips for driving your hybrid vehicle and maximising your range:

  • Take advantage of the various levels of regenerative braking available: when you brake, the vehicle recovers the kinetic energy generated by the braking process and charges your hybrid vehicle.
  • Turn on eco mode: by disabling or limiting certain non-essential features, it helps reduce your energy consumption.
  • Just like in a petrol-powered vehicle, a smooth driving style also helps improve your fuel economy.

With plug-in hybrid vehicles, take advantage of your vehicle's built-in features:

  • Switch to 100% electric whenever you want or whenever environmental conditions require it.
  • E-nav or predictive hybrid driving: when you plan your route, your vehicle anticipates whether to use internal combustion, hybrid, or 100% electric power based on your route (topography, city, etc.). This improves your fuel consumption and driving range, as well as your vehicle’s performance.
  • Cabin temperature preconditioning² : preheat the cabin in winter and turn on the air conditioning using programmable thermal preconditioning via Easy Link and openR link, or remotely using the My Renault app¹, while your vehicle is charging.

¹ To use My Renault app you need a smartphone with compatible iOS or Android operating system.  Download the free My Renault app and create an account.  Synchronise or pair My Renault to your vehicle.  Synchronising or pairing should only be done when the car is parked safely.  Services may be subject to mobile network coverage and additional charges.  Users should follow road safety regulations when using the services and always be in control of the vehicle.
